Last Updated on December 6, 2018 by Frank

So this is for all the adventure junkies out there, who trek a lot and for those also who are planning to have their next trekking trip sometime in the future. When it comes to trekking, there are several things that one must carry with them. These items include lifesaving tools, safety tools and the most important of all the Hiking shoes.

The momentum in hiking footwear has been moving away from using the bulky boots towards using the light weighted shoes. This not only makes the foot feel lighter but also will enhance the capabilities of the Trekker so that they can move faster. The only downside of this transformation is that you lose the ‘ankle support’ that was there in the bulky boots, but that can always be modified by carrying a less weighted luggage with you during the trek. So, here is our list of the best Lightweight Hiking shoes of the year 2017.

1. Salomon Quest 4D II GTX

So, there’s no one boot that gives you what you want, and we get it. The Salomon Quest 4D II GTX is by far the closest thing on the market that checks all the ideal requirement of hiking shoes. The main reason for these pair of shoes to feature on the top of our list is because of the positive reviews it got from Gizmodo, OutdoorGearLab and Switchback Travel. And this pretty much made the Salomon Quest 4D II GTX the best seller. Though it is not the lightest weight shoe, you’ll find, but it is the most comfortable amongst all.

2. The North Face Ultra 109 GTX

Though The North Face Ultra shoes list themselves in the trail-running shoe category for us, it checks all the boxes for the quality and comfort that ss required for a lightweight hiker. With the stable platform, excellent traction and good foot protection the midsole have a sank and rock plate this shoe falls under a very decent price point. The only downside of the North Faces Ultra 109 GTX is that they start to wear very soon as they have very short lugs. For the price of $120, they are pretty much the best hiking shoes that you can get. There is also another variant available, especially for women.

3. Lowa Renegade GTX Mid

Another widely reviewed hiking shoe, the Lowa Renegade GTX Mid is worth considering if you are looking for the most mid weight and rugged alternatives to the traditional heavy boots. Some people have encountered with the lacing system of these pair of shoes, but such things can be neglected. Lowa Renegade GTX Mid can act as an alternative to the Salomon shoes, as these acts as a sturdier option as compared.

4. Keen Targhee II WP

Keen Targhee II WP gives you a pretty casual look with decent performance. These pair of shoe sports a decent leather top with an excellent toe protector and Keen’s signature wide forefoot design. The overall weight of the shoes is somewhere around 2 pounds and aren’t the lightest on our list, but still, you won’t be able to recognize anything as they feel light while you wear them. Keen is known for offering comfort with their shoes, and that’s what you get right out of the box. The beefy lugs on the outsoles can do better both in wet and dry conditions.
